Generational Healing Happens Here

This is a space for the generational trauma disruptors in the family. It’s for those who speak out against unhealthy patterns of guilt and shame as you build a stronger sense of identity on your own terms. It’s a place where you can release the harmful messages you were taught about yourself. It’s where you’ll find community in shared stories and soothing ways to calm your nervous system along the way.

I’m Dr. PJ, a psychologist and author. I believe there’s deep healing in sharing our stories so I’ve created a space for us to share while also learning methods to care for yourself well. You’ll find books and resources on navigating your healing here too. Mutual sharing through storytelling is a return to our roots, a connection and care for humanity. Welcome.

Essays of Night and Daylight is an exploration of womanhood and identity as an Indian girl in America. I ponder comments such as, “What are you?” and “Oh, you speak such good English!” despite being born in Chicago. I wonder about the shame behind my grandmother’s tribal tattoo after she was visited by Christian missionaries. I revel in the making of chai, its multi-sensory exhilaration, this earthy elixir that reminds me of the power of each brown-skinned woman.

Where the Tiger Dwells, a memoir about an Indian girl whose strict conservative Christian parents were giddily arranging my marriage while I became faint at the thought of telling them about my secret American boyfriend. Represented by Sarah Jane Freymann Literary Agency. It’s a story of how India’s caste system plays out in America and intersects with immigration trauma. Subscribe for updates on its release.
